While the events held in the USA are great in terms of quality and topics covered, there are many other international conventions held outside of the States, which are worth visiting. A conference in a foreign country allows the attendees to get an idea of the host country and for those who speak the language, it is a great opportunity to practice it. So, here is a list of the interesting events happening throughout 2019 around the globe, which should be included in your schedule.  


Branded as “The World’s #1 Localization Conference & Exhibition Series,” LocWorld is an event that brings together international business, translation, localization and global website management. The 39th edition of the conference will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from February 27-28, 2019.  

The focus is on the exchange of high-value information in the language and translation services and technologies market. The keynote speaker will be Fredrik Härén, who is an author and speaker on business creativity.  

If you are unable to make it to Malaysia, you can attend LocWorld40, which will be held in Portugal from June 11-13, 2019 or LocWorld41 that will be held locally in the Silicon Valley from November 6-8, 2019.  

International Conference on Translation 

The International Conference on Translation is an annual event organized by the Department of English and Literature at Kuwait University. This year, the event will be held in Kuwait City from March 3-4, 2019. 

The conference focuses on different translation-related topics and is intended for translation scholars and researchers from different universities and research centers around the world, including the United States of America, The U.K., Europe, the Middle East, and the Arabian Gulf.

GALA 2019  

GALA 2019 is organized by Globalization and Localization Association, which is a global, non-profit trade association for the language industry. This year, the conference bears the title “The Language of Business, The Business of Language” and will take place in Munich, Germany from March 24-27, 2019.  

The goal of the conference is to share knowledge and create standards for the world of language and help professionals in the field. It creates a platform where content managers and language technology developers can meet and expand their network.

TLC 2019   

The annual Translation and Localization Conference focuses on the latest technologies and trends in the field of translation and localization. This year, the participants will discuss if the industry is ready for the challenge 2020 and the name of the conference is “Ready, Set, 2020!”

TAUS DQF Workshop 

The Quality Management Workshop organized by TAUS on April 17, 2019, in Tokyo, Japan is intended for all experts in the field of translation who are interested in translation quality. The two main topics to be covered are translation quality and productivity. 

The workshop is very suitable for quality managers, translation project managers, and lead translators. More specifically, it will focus on: 

  • Measuring translation productivity and quality using the TAUS DQF 
  • Setting up and performing a quality evaluation using the TAUS DQF-MQM error typology 
  • Interpreting the results of assessments to improve translation quality processes 

Once in Tokyo, you can also stay one day more and attend the TAUS Global Content Summit, which will be held on April 18. The format of the conference is very interactive but it is a “boutique event” as it is intended for 80 attendees only. The TAUS Summits focus on machine translation and machine intelligence. So, if this is your sphere of interest, make sure to book your participation as early as possible. 

EUATC 2019  

The 14th International European Union of Associations of Translation Companies (EUATC) conference will take place in Tallinn, Estonia from April 25-26, 2019.  

The event is well-established and attracts professionals in the field not only from Europe but from the USA, Australia, and the Far East as well. The goal is to establish and popularize the translation services provided online across countries and time zones.  

UTI Camp  

If you want a quite different experience, join the Ukrainian Translation Industry campsite for the UTI Camp that will be held at Dnipro, Ukraine from July 22-28, 2019. It takes communication between industry experts to a different level and helps strengthen bonds and build connections.

On the campsite, you will learn the latest translation news, discuss related issues, and have a good time outdoors with friends and family. All participants are welcomed to stay as long as they like.  

tcworld 2019 

Tcworld 2019 is a conference for those who are interested in localization and technologies. The event will be held in Stuttgart, Germany from November 12-14, 2019. The event is hosted along with the tekom-Trade fair that includes an exhibition covering the field of technical communication. 

The international speakers will share interesting insights about the world of technology and how it can help translation experts. The conference is a chance to meet new partners, discuss topics of interest, learn the newest tendencies, and find the suppliers who bring the right solutions for you.
