Nowadays translators are privileged to have access to modern technology that facilitates their work in many aspects. There are many tools that help the process go seamlessly and offer different types of assistance. The translation job can be easily managed using different systems and platforms, which make it easy to track the progress both by the translator and the customer. When it comes to translation and localization, terminology management is also very importance as are CMSs (content management systems) and CAT (computer-aided translation) tools.
Cloud-based translation management is offered by the leading language service providers so that their clients can follow the translation process in real time and track the progress.
There are many other technological advances that are used in the everyday work of translation experts and that shorten the time of execution of given task while ensuring the highest accuracy and quality. Below we are going to review one such translation system – Memsource and more specifically how it can be integrated with the popular marketing systems Marketo and HubSpot for providing even better results.
What is Memsource?
Memsource was founded in 2010 by David Čaněk, current CEO and Head of Product, and has its headquarters in Prague, with offices around the world. The company offers a world-class cloud-based translation technology, Memsource Cloud, which was launched to the public in 2011. Since then, their management system has gained popularity and is one of the preferred tools used both by freelance translators and translation companies.
Memsource Cloud is a type of CAT tool that includes translation memory, terminology management, integrated machine translation and quality management. It provides both web-based and desktop translator’s workbench. The services it offers to its clients are based on the freemium business model – a combination of free and premium features. The Personal, Academic and Developer editions are offered for free, however there is a monthly subscription fee for those who want to use a software that has more options. Freelance translators can subscribe for the Freelancer edition, while translation companies can choose between the Team Start, Team and Ultimate editions in accordance with their needs.
Brief review of Marketo and HubSpot
Marketo and HubSpot are platforms that are used mainly by marketers to facilitate their daily work in many aspects.
- Marketo was founded in 2006 by Phil Fernandez, Jon Miller and David Morandi and has its headquarters in San Mateo, California, with offices around the USA and abroad. The main goal of its founders was to provide marketers with a tool that can demonstrate the return on investment of their programs.
Now the marketing automation platform offers account-based marketing that includes e-mail, mobile, social, digital ads, web management and analytics. Its customers can choose between complete pre-packaged offers or customized solutions that can serve different industries – education, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, etc. Marketo launched its first product in 2008 and now it offers four types of products in three editions on a subscription basis.
- HubSpot was founded in 2006 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah. It offers different products and services related to social media marketing, content management, web analytics and search engine optimization. Its tools can be used by both smaller companies and larger businesses. HubSpot aims to provide an all-in-one approach to its customers and also creates content to promote its inbound marketing concepts via blogs, webinars, social media, and white papers.
As it is visible from the above-written, the products of all the three companies have gained world-wide recognition and are valued by both individuals, small and large businesses. Hence, the integration of the translation technology offered by Memsource with the platforms of Marketo or HubSpot will only facilitate the business using them. Below you can find how to do it.
Premium Memsource connectors for Marketo and HubSpot
Once you have a Memsource account, you can manage it in a way that suits your personal and/or business needs best. Memsource offers an advanced open REST API that allows you to connect your account to a great variety of online repositories, CMSs and third-party technologies. These integrations will facilitate your translation process, make it more efficient, faster and provide opportunities for continuous localization.
On their website Memsource provides detailed information about the connectors it offers and how to use them. There are four types of connectors that you can utilize for your integrations:
- Connectors to online repositories
- Premium CMS connectors, where Marketo and HubSpot connectors are to be found
- CMS Plugins for multilingual websites
- Memsource third-party integrations
If you want to integrate Memsource with Marketo and HubSpot you need to follow the simple steps as listed by Memsource:
- Set up the connector
In order to connect to Memsource, you need to use one of the authentication methods that is required by the given connector. It can be via pop-up where you need to fill in the credentials for the desired account in the pop-up window. FTP and SFTP require filling a special form with your username, password host, etc. in order to connect to the specific environment.
Memsource plugins are also required for some integrations but not for Marketo and Hubspot.
- Create projects
For Marketo and Hubspot you can create projects both manually and automatically. If it is manually, you can use the Add from Online Repository option to import an already existing project. The interface allows you to browse directly all the repositories to identify the content that is to be imported.
The other option is to use Automated Project Creation and create projects automatically. Memsource monitors a dedicated folder in the designated repositories and once new or updated content is identified it will create a new project.
- Deliver the translated content
The delivery of the translated project can be done either manually or automatically depending on the way the project was created. For manually-created projects the completed content is delivered to the online repository using the Download – Export to Online Repository option. It creates a separate folder for each of the target languages.
Automatically-created projects use the Project Status function to determine whether the content is ready to be imported back to the repository. The project should have reached the status Completed in order to be imported back. This status can either be set manually by the Project Manager or done automatically via the Project Status Automation option.
As it is visible, the integration of Memsource with Marketo and HubSpot is quite a simple process that can deliver great results.
With the technological development, all translators and translating companies should make use of the tools that can make their work easier and more efficient. Memsource is one such tool and the possibility to integrate it with other platforms and systems is an opportunity that should not be left aside.
